“Perfect Stranger” - 2/10/26
I am confident, yes I am, imperfect stranger,
That a bisou from me to you (between us two)
Would contain enough multitudes
To banish the word “mundane” from
Shared vocabularies long enough to recognize
Holding hands = Stars Hollow, steps retraced
Expectant hope in all its insensible taut complexity and if
After speaking this strange salient language
After smoking sunrise’s proverbial cigarette
You decided (or did I) to leave the crumpled
Distance-worn diploma of impracticality
In its tattered envelope un-framed, un-hung
If in that moment of unraveling you or I
Determined being undeterred did not fit
Into the keyhole of possibility’s quivering
I would be ok I know you would too
So much to see, unearth, explore (tattoo!)
But being psychic has its birds eye-merits
Emboldened as I am by eventuality’s vibrant
Presence blessed in my way with amerced abilities
To patiently rifle through Allison’s bottomless purse
Seeing with a blind woman’s clarity
That all the rules and histories recounted coarsely
Idolatries only mean as much as credence is given
I’d never sell you on the soapbox we shouldn’t
Duet with anyone else especially if far away but somehow,
Some material day, in our own ephemeral form
We will be a fireplace and someone else
Will watch us crackling and wonder, incredulously,
How do I become those willful flames, dancing wildly?
irrepressible, swirling grace, engulfed in joy
